A basement shelf, built one item at a time
Stocking one shelf for the next bad week.
I am building a survival shelf in my basement, slowly and on purpose. Water, food, light, heat, first aid, the basics. Every item that goes on the shelf gets written up here: what it is, why it earned the spot, and what I have actually done with it. No bunker, no doomsday, just a shelf I can walk to when the power is out or the roads are closed.
How the shelf works
The shelf is organized by what a problem looks like, not by brand. When something goes wrong, I want to grab one section, not dig through boxes. These are the sections, and each one fills in over time.

Nothing goes on the list until it is physically on the shelf. If I have only unboxed something, the write-up says so.
